Student Jamboree
MIT (Cambridge, Massachussetts)
The UK iGEM teams had a stellar year at the 2009 Jamboree. The Cambridge and Imperial teams made it to the all-European final six, and this year Cambridge walked away with the Grand Prize BioBrick Trophy for their E. chromi project!
The UK sent a record 9 teams across the pond to compete in the 2009 iGEM Jamboree. And compete they did, bringing home enough prizes to warrant chartering a cargo plane.
A quick run-down of the glories bestowed on the UK teams:
Grand Prize BioBrick Trophy: Cambridge (E.chromi)
Best Environmental project: Cambridge
Best Manufacturing project: Imperial (the E.ncapsulator)
Best Model: Bristol (VESECURE)
Best Human Practices Advance: Imperial
Gold medals: Aberdeen, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Imperial and Newcastle
Silver medal: UCL
Bronze medal: Southampton
A special mention to iGEM newcomers Aberdeen, Sheffield, Southampton and UCL, who all put in impressive performances.
Congratulations to all of this year's teams for their excellent work and spirited contributions to iGEM!
