Several articles in the July 2009 edition of The Journal of the Royal Society 'Interface' were penned by members of the SynBioStandards Network.
The July 2009 issue of Interface has a special focus on synthetic biology, and features contributions from several Network members.
To start things off, Jim Haseloff and Jim Ajioka from Cambridge provide an introduction to the history, challenges and prospects of synthetic biology. Vincent Rouilly, James Chappell, Richard Kitney, Paul Freemont and colleagues at Imperial College London write about microfluidic technologies in synthetic biology. In his article, Chris French (Edinburgh) discusses the possible contributions of synthetic biology to biomass conversion. Steve Yearley, also at Edinburgh, rounds off the Network contributions with a reflection on the social and ethical dimensions of synthetic biology.
The special issue also contains articles by Pam Silver (Harvard), Sven Panke (ETH Zurich) and others.
