SynBioStandards Network members are lead researchers on three of the winning grants from the EPSRC/NSF sandpit held in Virginia in March 2009.
Hearty congratulations go to:
- Jim Haseloff and Neil Wipat for securing nearly £1 million to work on ‘The Programmable Rhizosphere.’
- Susan Rosser, Paul Freemont and colleagues Declan Bates (Leicester) and Anne Osbourn (John Innes Centre) for winning just over £900,000 to work on ‘Synthetic integrons for continuous directed evolution of complex genetic ensembles.’
- Jane Calvert and Alistair Elfick, who together with Drew Endy have secured funding for a project on ‘Synthetic aesthetics: connecting synthetic biology and creative design.’
All five of the core institutions in the Network are represented in these grants, no small achievement!
