On 13 April, the Edinburgh International Science Festival hosted an evening debate entitled 'Designer Life: Scotland's Next Industrial Revolution?'.
BBC science presenter Quentin Cooper chaired this lively event, which included contributions from panellists Ben Davis (Oxford), Jim Haseloff (Cambridge), Joyce Tait (Edinburgh) and former Bishop of Edinburgh Richard Holloway.
